Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, the scion of the erstwhile Mysuru royal family, on Tuesday promised to uphold the family’s legacy.

“I have been a witness to the traditions in the family since childhood. I will carry on the legacy unblemished.”

He was speaking to reporters during a visit to the Chamundeshwari temple atop the Chamundi Hills in the city. Yaduveer was accompanied by Pramodadevi, wife of late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, and his parents Tripurasundari Devi and Swarup Anand Gopal Raj Urs. Yaduveer was on Monday adopted as the successor to Srikantadatta, who passed away on December 10, 2013.

The family also visited the Mahabaleshwara Swami temple atop the hills, Markandeya Temple on the road leading to Uttanahalli and Jwalamukhi Tripurasundari temple at Uttanahalli.

Pramodadevi, in her chat with reporters, expressed gratitude to the people who had turned up in large numbers during the procession of her adopted son Yaduveer in Mysuru on Monday evening.

She said, “The overwhelming response of the people proved that they still hold the royal family in high esteem”.

Yaduveer will uphold the culture and traditions of the family without fail, she said. To simultaneous queries on the marriage of Yaduveer and his coronation, Pramodadevi said, “Wait till Yaduveer returns to India after his studies.

We will let you know the happy news from the Palace side.” She reiterated this when inquisitive mediapersons wanted to know if Yaduveer’s fiancee was present during the adoption ceremony.
