<p> City in-charge Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Thursday held garbage contractor BVG India Private Limited responsible for garbage mess in areas such as Yelahanka, Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Jayanagar. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, Reddy said: “We have directed the BBMP officials to clear the garbage bills of the contractors only after they execute the work effectively. BVG has failed to work in this regard.”<br /><br />The garbage contractor had refused to clear the waste at the above three places claiming that garbage bills have been pending for the last three months.<br /><br />The minister added that at a few constituencies, action has been taken by slapping a fine against contractors and cancelling garbage contracts. A fine of around Rs three crore was levied on BVG at Yelahanka and new tenders has been floated at 113 wards regarding waste management, he added.</p>
