College student dies in accident

A business management student was killed on the spot after a garbage-laden BBMP truck rammed the two-wheeler she was riding pillion with her classmate in Whitefield on Tuesday.

The victim Ramya R, 22, a resident of New Thippasandra and a student of MVJ College in Channasandra, and Pavithra were on their way to college at around 7:45 am, when the accident occurred on Varthur Main Road. Both were thrown off the scooter and sustained injuries. They were rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared Ramya ‘dead on arrival’, the Whitefield police said. Pavithra is undergoing treatment.

The police arrested the truck driver and booked him for rash and negligent driving.
In another accident, Trishul, 27, an employee with an automobile showroom, died when a speeding BMTC bus struck the motorbike he was riding near Manekshaw Parade grounds. A resident of Asman Road in Shivajinagar, Trishul was on his way to workplace when the accident occurred at 9.10 am, the police said. He was rushed to Bowring Hospital where he died.
The driver abandoned the bus and fled the spot. The police are on the lookout for him.
