A 65-year-old man was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne assailants in west Delhi’s Najafgarh late on Tuesday.

Police suspect the attack to be a part of a gang war, but are yet to make any arrest.
It has also been linked to the case in which four bodies were found charred in a car in Haryana in January.

Victim Rohtash Singh lived with his family in Mitraon village.
“Rohtash was on the first floor of the house when two men on a motorcycle came to meet him,” a police officer said.

As he reached downstairs, he got involved in a heated argument with them.
It is alleged that the two assailants then opened indiscriminate firing and fled.
Rohtash sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the attack, and his family members rushed to help on hearing the commotion.

Locals then informed police. Rohtash was taken to Rao Tula Ram Memorial Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

A case of murder under Indian Penal Code and Arms Act has been registered with Baba Haridas Nagar police station.

After an initial probe, police said Rohtash was the father of a man named Gopal, who was allegedly involved in the killing of four men in January.

They were victims of revenge killing in a gang war in Najafgarh.
Police say gangs of Ravinder and Naveen Khati are rivals over supremacy in Najafgarh.

In the wee hours of January 1, Manish, Sandeep, Sudhir and Deepak, residents of Mitraon village, were shot dead when they were returning home after New Year celebrations.

The bodies were then kept in a Toyota Etios car, which was taken to Haryana’s Jhajjar district and set on fire.

Skeletons were found in the car’s trunk and on the rear seat on January 1.
“As Rohtash was a senior citizen with no criminal history, we suspect he was attacked over the gang war involving his son,” the officer added.
