With infant mortality cases going unreported in the district, Zilla Panchayat CEO Rohini Sindhoori has issued instructions to bring such cases to the attention of either Asha workers or ANMs.

Addressing a meeting of health workers, here, on Sunday, she said, parents who withhold information about infant deaths would be penalised. Asha workers and ANMs should create awareness regarding the same, she said.

Two cases of infant mortality has come to the notice of the district administration recently, days after the incidents occurred. Steps should be taken to ensure that such cases are reported on time, she said. She also expressed her dissatisfaction on how the issue is handled by Health department officials.

The department was also instructed to take action against quacks, who are cheating the people.
