Statement against Kodava Sahitya Academy chief condemned

In response to the statement made by some members of Kodava Sahitya Academy against the Academy president Biddatanda S Thammaiah, the other eight members condemned the statement, and said that Thimmaiah was doing his best to preserve Kodava literature and folk.

Kalachanda G Cariappa, who reportedly delivered the statement against the Academy president, has clarified in a press release that he had not spoken against him, and that he supported the endeavors of the Academy chief.

Eight Academy members Mullengada Baby Chondamma, Dr Thithira Rekha Vasanth, Madrira Sanju Belliappa, Medara Rani, Apadanada Raghu,Chirammana Vani Changumaiah, Kalachanda G Cariappa, Annira Harish Madappa, have justified the move of Thammaiah, and said that he had been carrying out his work according to the action plan, code of conduct, and by taking into consideration of the decision of all members and that of the standing committee.

The eight members also claimed that the Academy chief had initiated many programmes to rejuvenate the Academy, which had become non-existent from many years.

It was unfortunate that at such a time, his name was being sullied, they added.
