Stir against amendment to Land Acquisition Act

Leaders of various parties and progressive associations stage a protest in front of DC’s office in Chikkamagaluru, against the amendment made by the Centre to the land acquisition act, on Wednesday.

The protestors expressed their wrath by setting fire to the copies of the amendment.

The protestors alleged that the amendment has been introduced only for the benefit of the Multinational companies. The government has thus taken anti-people stand.

The BJP, which has been chanting the Swadeshi matra, is now all set to hand over farmers land to foreign and corporate companies, they said and claimed the amendment to be anti-constitutional.

During the tenure of the previous governments, agricultural lands have been diminished by 20 to 30 percent, owing to the establishment of industries.

Scarcity of food
The production of crops is also decreasing significantly. In future, there will be scarcity of food. The farmers have to save their lands by opposing the amendment.

Leaders from various parties and associations B Amjad, K T Radhakrishna, Gurushantappa, K P Rajarathnam, Ravish Basappa, Rajesgowda, Shrinivasa Devanga, Velayudhan, R R Mahesh, Annaiah, Holadagadde Girish, H M Parameshwarappa and others were present.
