JOIN USThe police have arrested four persons on charge of robbing drivers on highways.
The arrested have been identified as Periyanna, 39, native of Dharmapuri, Bharath, 23, native of Krishnagiri, Arun Kumar, 26, resident of Audugodi and Jilla, 27, resident of Someshwara Nagar. Four trucks, two cars, a bike, two gold chains and two finger rings, valued at Rs 1.5 cr, were recovered from them.
They would waylay trucks and lorries, beat up drivers and escape with the vehicles. They used to hire taxis and on reaching isolated places, would attack the driver and decamp with the vehicles.
The accused were also involved in a couple of robberies, said the police, who are also on the look out for Sunil, who used to help them in getting fake documents for the stolen vehicles.
