According to Pancham Claj and Akash, the directors of ‘Cafe House of Quotes’, a restaurant is more than just the food it serves. Even the ambience of the place matters. This belief of theirs led them to open the cosy eatery which serves delicious food and beverage along with playing some great music. What stands out here is a wall where the visitors can write their feedback. The owners believe that a lot happens over quotes and these messages are not just on post-its but also on photo frames, posters and tissue holders.

There is something for everybody here. Says Pancham, “Many of my customers are also my friends. They take pride in calling my cafe as their ‘adda’. They write whatever they feel about the place on our ‘wall of quotes’ and when they visit the next time, they feel a sense of belonging seeing their own quotes.” ‘Cafe House of Quotes’ serves tasty and authentic vegetarian and non-vegetarian North Indian, Chinese and fast food. People like to sip the special ‘adrak wali chai’ while going through their favourite books at the place. The new ‘big bang chicken burger’ is one of the most sought-after items.

“The ‘thali’ sells well during lunch and dinner time. Our Punjabi chicken curry, ‘paneer’ dishes, ‘kadi pakoda’ and ‘parathas’ are also really liked by the customers,” he adds. Says Shakthi, a software engineer who is a regular, “I feel happy whenever I see my quotes on the wall. I usually visit the place with my friends and like to have the ‘lassi’ and a crispy chicken dish. The items are cost effective.” Paria, who is from Iran and is studying at King’s College, says, “I like Indian food and like coming here whenever I come to Brigade Road. My favourite dishes are gravy chicken and ‘puri’.”

The place is located on Church Street.
