Members of taluk unit of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) and Hasiru Sene (Puttannaiah faction) on Friday submitted a memorandum to Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer D S Gurubasappa and Zilla Panchayat Assistant Executive Engineer Ganapati Sakare, urging the duo to take steps to resolve drinking water crisis in Shettihalli village of the taluk.

Shettihalli, which falls under Abludu Gram Panchayat, is reeling under acute shortage of drinking water. The two borewells sunk in the village are drying up.

An inch of water being sourced out from the borewells is not sufficient to meet the drinking water needs of the village which has a population of over 1,500, the members of KRRS and Hasiru Sene complained.

They urged the authorities concerned to sink two more borewells in the village.
KRRS and Hasiru Sene taluk president S M Raviprakash, general secretary Aanuru Balamuralikrishna, Bhaktarahalli Prateesh, Doddatekahalli Khadeerappa, Aanemadagu Shivanna, D V Narayanaswamy, H K Devaraj, Chandrashekar and others were present.

Protest for water

The taluk unit of KRRS and Hasiru Sene has stated that it would extend its support to the campaign for implementation of permanent irrigation scheme in the bayaluseeme (plains).

In a press release issued here on Friday, the office-bearers of the KRRS stated that the members of the taluk unit of Raitha Sangha would take part in the massive protest planned Freedom Park on Saturday.

The KRRS will press the government to take steps for the implementation of the project recommended by Paramashivaiah Report in the parched Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Tumakuru, Bengaluru Rural districts, the release added.
