The Rajasthan Congress on Saturday passed a resolution in support of former prime minister Manmohan Singh who has been summoned by a special court in a coal scam case.

The resolution was passed on the same day when Manmohan Singh was in Dausa district of Rajasthan to unveil the statue of former Gujarat governor Naval Kishore Sharma at his ancestral village.

The resolution was moved by state Congress president Sachin Pilot at a party meeting and unanimously passed.

The resolution says that during his tenure Singh set the highest standards of dedication and integrity to the country. Singh controlled the economy due to his perfect financial management in the most difficult times, the party said.

Earlier in the day, senior leaders Ashok Gehlot, Moti Lal Vora, Janardan Dwivedi and others accompanied Singh to Dausa to unveil Sharma’s statue. While addressing the gathering, Singh highlighted qualities of Sharma and asked Congress workers to follow his principle.

Janardan Dwivedi said Sharma’s life has taught not to lose sense and patience even in the most difficult times. All decisions should be taken after a proper judgement of right and wrong.

His speech was later linked to the present crises that former PM is facing in the coal scam case.
