<p>A 17-year-old girl died and her friend was injured when their moped hit a stationary bus in east Delhi’s Pandav Nagar on Thursday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Policemen were at the spot attending to another accident involving a bus.<br />Victim Kusum Jha hailed from Bihar and lived with her relatives in Mandawali.<br /><br />Police said the incident occurred when she was travelling with Mayur Vihar resident Raju, 26.<br /><br />Around 4 pm, a call was made to the police control room reporting an accident near Akshardham Temple.<br /><br />Police presence<br />“A Delhi Transport Corporation bus had rammed into a cluster bus,” said a police officer.<br /><br />The buses were made to park on the roadside as staff of a PCR van were attending the call.<br /><br />“Soon, a moped coming from Nizamuddin side rammed into the cluster bus. Raju was driving the moped, while Kusum was riding pillion,” the officer added.<br /><br />Raju and Kusum were rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, where Kusum was declared brought dead.<br /><br />An initial probe revealed that Kusum’s mother lived in Bihar, while she lived with her uncle Shiv Kumar’s family in Mandawali.<br /><br />On Thursday, she had left home around 2.30 pm.<br /><br />Kusum, however, did not inform them about her schedule for the day.<br />“We are yet to establish the sequence of events as Raju has not been declared fit for a statement,” the officer said.<br /><br />Though Kusum’s family is based in Bihar, she was sent to the capital when she was three years old.<br /><br />She was a class 10 student at a government school in Mandawali. Raju is a carpenter in east Delhi.<br /><br />A case of rash driving and causing death by negligence has been registered with Pandav Nagar police station.<br /><br />Police said no action will be taken against the bus driver.<br />The PCR call was made after the rear end of the cluster bus was damaged in the first accident.<br /><br />“The driver of the cluster bus had applied sudden break and the DTC bus driver failed to anticipate it. The drivers had reached a compromise when the moped rammed into the cluster bus,” the officer added.</p>
