Man held for cheating Rs 1.3 cr to forest dept

The arrested has been identified as Mohan Kumar. He was produced before the mediapersons at SP office. He has cheated forest department with Rs 1,29,08,451.

Based on the complaint by ACF N B Manjunath that the accused has drawn Rs 27,30,895 using treasury office token from Mysore Bank in Tarikere and has misused. Through forgery, he has drawn Rs 18,49,320 on 11/8/08, Rs 15,36,478 on 15/10/08, Rs 29,07,079 on 17/02/09, Rs 38,84,679 on 12/06/09. The accused had deposited Rs 1,29,08,451 in the name of his wife B G Anitha in Mysore Bank at Bhadravathi.

With the money, he has also purchased a plot worth Rs 5 lakh in the name of his mother Kamalamma at Gopalagowda and Sharana Veeresha extension in Shimoga. Mohan has also built a house at an estimated cost of Rs 13 lakh in Gopalagowda extension and has purchased Alto car in October 2008. Police have seized Rs 1,90,000 worth gold from the accused.

SP M N Nagaraj said that they have found a few clues indicating that forest department officials too are involved in the incident. IGP (Western range) Gopal Hosur has announced cash prize for the team which cracked the case.
