Karol Bagh MLA Vishesh Ravi, who has also been appointed chief of the central district development committee, says he wants to work for people like his father who has passed on to him the legacy of selfless social service.

Ravi, 30, a businessman by profession, says he is trying to walk in the footsteps of his social worker father who, in his 30 years of public life also served as a BJP councillor twice.

“It wasn’t easy to get into active politics and join Aam Aadmi Party,” says Ravi, whose mother initially did not support his idea of joining politics and instead advised him to join the family business and get married.

Things, however, changed after the Assembly poll victory. “My mother is now pleased with my performance and fully behind me,” says Ravi.

Despite getting the additional responsibility in the district development committee, Ravi claims he is committed to his constituency.

“I will solve the fundamental problems of the constituency by using funds properly,” he says.

Ravi assures to solve parking and sewage problems. “The sewerage line in the area has not been changed for the past 20 years and it is my first priority to improve this.”
The AAP leader, who trounced Yogendra Chandolia of Bharatiya Janata Party by over 34,000 votes, says

finding new parking spaces in the area would also be his focus. Ravi, who admits that he is still learning the tricks of politics, loves to listen to music.

Whenever he gets some time, he likes to tune into Kishore Kumar’s Bollywood songs of the 1990s.

He is also planning to encourage youths to come forward and join politics.
“They should change their mindset about politics. It is no more a money-making business and a profession of musclemen.”

“In a country like India, it is the duty of every youth to make the country clean and corrupt-free,” he says, adding that the AAP is the right platform for this.
