JOIN USUppinangady: Finally, concretisation work at Uppinnagady bus stand has been initiated in response to a 10-year-long demand.
The bus stand was in pitiable condition with pothholes and had been causing great difficulty to passengers during the rainy season.
The bus stand which falls in the limits of Uppinangady GP, had been asphalted before 12 years. Only within two years, the work spoiled and the bus stand was ridden with potholes.
During Panchayat meetings, demands were placed many times for the repair work of the bus stand. But, the work was sidelined due to lack of funds. GP president Nalinakshi said that the Panchayat has reserved Rs 20 lakh funds under the 13th financial commission for the bus stand. Rs 10 lkah will be earmarked for the other works.
The concretisation of the bus stand will be done at a cost of Rs 30 lakh.
Parking restrictions
As there will be no space during maintenance work, for parking, other vehicles as well as government buses are to park at following places:
Parking is prohibited for vehicles other than the buses which are to be parked inside the bus stand.
Only one tempo going towards Puttur is allowed to park near Swasthik Wines
Buses going to Puttur/Nelyadi are to be parked near Community Health Centre
Buses going to Puttur are to be parked near the entrance of the bus stand.
Buses going to Belthangady should be parked inside the bus stand.
