Man held for abetting wife's suicide

Bengaluru: The Kalasipalya police arrested a 30-year-old man on Sunday for abetting the suicide of his wife.

The suspect Mohammed, a resident of Mavalli, was married to Sayira Banu for 12 years. The couple had two children. Mohammed was employed as a salesman with a mobile handset showroom in Jayanagar, said the police.

According to the police, the couple used to fight over petty issues due to lack of compatibility. On Saturday night, the couple got into a quarrel. Sayira Banu tried to plead with Mohammed and convince him over some matter, but he did not heed. A hurt Sayira went to the bedroom and hanged herself from a ceiling fan, said the police.

The children, who were playing outside when the incident occurred, returned home to see their mother hanging from the fan. They rushed back outside and informed their father. Mohammed took her to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared her dead on arrival, added the police.

Sayira Banu’s parents filed a complaint stating that their daughter took the extreme step due to constant harassment by Mohammed. Based on the complaint, the police arrested him on Sunday.

Gang of six rob man

A gang of six unidentified men barged into a house under Madivala police limits on Sunday and made away with valuables including a gold chain, a cellphone and Rs 20,000.
According to the complainant Ashok, the incident occurred when six persons, Raja,

Sampangi, Vasanth, Chandru, Ayyappa and himself, were partying at their neighbour’­s house. They had consumed liquor and were playing cards.

At around 10.45 pm, six unidentified men barged into the house with lethal weapons. Two of them were wearing helmets and standing at the main door, while the other four who were not wearing helmets surrounded the victims, he added.

The suspects ordered them to hand over valuables and cash. Ashok tried to sneak out through the door, but one of the two suspects at the door attacked Ashok with a lethal weapon. An injured Ashok fell to the ground. The suspects took his valuables and fled, said the police.
