State scores 98.75 per cent

CBSE Class X exam: Nine of Blores 13 KVs get 100 per cent result

Out of the total 13,164 students who had appeared for the examination from the State, exactly 13,000 passed. Only six students out of those who had appeared for all exams failed from the state. Over 5,500 girls and 7,500 boys from 210 schools across the State appeared for the exam.

The pass percentage of the 33 Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) in the State was 99.29. Nine out of the 13 KVs in Bangalore secured 100 per cent results. An additional nine KVs (out of the total of 20 in different parts of Karnataka) secured 100 per cent results.

Lakshmi Chari, Education officer of K V Sanghatan said, “Out of the 4,536 students who appeared in the State, 4504 have passed.” She added that the K V toppers in the State came from Mysore and Bellary. Some of the other schools to have secured 100 per cent results in Bangalore include HAL Public School, Rashtriya Military School, branches of
National Pubic School and Delhi Public School.

The State was fractionally behind Kerala, Goa and Puducherry in terms of pass percentage for the Chennai region. Puducherry, with 99.72 pass percentage, topped the list of states and union territories in the CBSE class X results in the region.

N Nagaraju, Joint Secretary for the Chennai region told reporters that out of the total 1.05 lakh students who had appeared for the exam, over one lakh students passed.

The total pass percentage for the Chennai region stood at 95.60 per cent; this surpasses the 2008 record of 95.25 per cent. The pass percentage is an 18-year record high for the region that comprises Andaman and Nicobar islands, Andhra Pradesh, Daman and Diu, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Maharashtra, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu.

Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Goa and Tamil Nadu also registered high pass percentages of more than 98 per cent.

Kerala with 35,000 students had the maximum number of students who took the exams this year, and was second in the region with a pass per centage of 99.22. Kerala also has the most number of CBSE schools in the region with 737 schools, a staggering 516 schools more than Andhra Pradesh.

The total number of candidates who had registered from the Chennai region was 1,05,989 and a total of 1,05,353 appeared for the exam. A total of 1,00,716 students have passed from the region.

Verification

Candidates who are interested in in verification and re-checking their marks must apply within 21 days. A prescribed fee of Rs 100 per subject must be sent in the form of a DD drawn in favour of the Secretary, CBSE, payable at Chennai.
