Usually students have parents as their role models while few have teachers as their role models. However, here is an opportunity for students, especially those who received scholarships from Deshabhaktha Karnad Sadashiva Rao Memorial Trust, to take Deshabhaktha Karnad Sadashiva Rao as role model, opined Nitte University Pro Chancellor Dr Shantharam Shetty.

Addressing a gathering after handing over scholarships and charity funds as a part of the golden jubilee celebrations of Deshabhaktha Karnad Sadashiva Rao Memorial Trust at St Aloysius College auditorium in Mangaluru on Tuesday, he lauded the efforts of the Trust for organising such a meaningful programme.

Giving a glimpse of the property owned by Karnad Sadashiv Rao, popularly known as K S Rao, Dr Shetty said that though he (K S Rao) owned half the property of entire Mulki, he did not have even 50 cents of land during his last days, due to his donations for poor and needy.

Presiding over the programme, Trust President Pramoda Shetty termed K S Rao as the “Gandhi of South India” and gave a gist of life of K S Rao. Trust Secretary H Gunasheela Ballal and Trustee Prafullachandra Thingalaya were felicitated on the occasion. The Trust distributed charity funds to a total of 11 schools / institutions and 18 poor students.
