MP R Dhruvanaryan directed the authorities concerned to complete the road works that have been taken up at several places before May.

Addressing the KDP meeting, in Chamarajanagar, on Tuesday, he said, the works on the highway has been launched at a cost of Rs 40 crore. “While some of the works are under progress, some have been stalled. The works should be completed on priority,” he said.

However, he said, there should be no compromise on quality of the works and higher officials should inspect the works and complete it before the monsoon sets in.

The MP directed the officials to take necessary measures to improve drinking water supply in the district. Sufficient funds have been released for water projects so that water crisis does not raise its head in the district, he said.

Commenting on the MGNREGA works, which provides job opportunities for rural people, he observed that some departments have not shown interest in it. If the scheme is utilised properly, overall development of the district can be achieved, he said.

Dhruvanaryan said, with the approval for the Cotton and Maize Research Centre in the district, works should begin from April. Steps should be taken to identify 50 acres of land for it, immediately. However, the centre will start functioning from the Haradanahalli Agricultural Science Centre temporarily.  Deputy Commissioner A M Kunjappa directed the officials to seek administrative approval to begin works utilising MP Local Area Development funds.
ZP CEO Narasimhamurthy, president D C Nagendra and others were present.
