<p>Bengaluru, dhns: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G Parameshwara on Wednesday inaugurated a new Congress office building on Race Course Road in the City, hitherto occupied by the Janata Dal (Secular).<br /><br />Entering the building after a pooja, Parameshwara, who had earlier hinted that the JD(S) had performed black magic there, hoped the new office would bring good fortune to the party. <br /><br />“This office has given four chief ministers and one prime minister. We hope it will bring Congress its share of luck,” Parameshwara said.<br /><br />Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Home Minister K J George and others made a brief stop at the building before heading towards the Vidhana Soudha for the ongoing legislature session.<br /><br />Addressing the media, Parameshwara said the party was coming back home after 46 years. <br /><br />“After a long wait of 46 years and 23 years of legal battle, the party has come home. It is a milestone for me, personally, that the party has taken possession of this office.”<br />He thanked JD(S) national president H D Deve Gowda for abiding by the Supreme Court verdict and vacating the office for the Congress.<br /><br />On which unit of the party would occupy the building, Parameshwara said the Congress had 16 units of its own. <br /><br />“We will discuss the issue among our office-bearers and leaders, before deciding which unit will move into the new building,” he said.<br /><br />New building<br /><br />Meanwhile, the Congress has decided to construct a new building on the vacant space behind the existing office on Queen’s Road. <br /><br />A committee has been formed for deciding on the structural details and project report finalisation.</p>
