Bengaluru, dhns: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G Parameshwara on Wednesday inaugurated a new Congress office  building on Race Course Road in the City, hitherto occupied by the Janata Dal (Secular).

Entering the building after a pooja, Parameshwara, who had earlier hinted that the JD(S) had performed black magic there, hoped the new office would bring good fortune to the party.

“This office has given four chief ministers and one prime minister. We hope it will bring Congress its share of luck,” Parameshwara said.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Home Minister K J George and others made a brief stop at the building before heading towards the Vidhana Soudha for the ongoing legislature session.

Addressing the media, Parameshwara said the party was coming back home after 46 years.

“After a long wait of 46 years and 23 years of legal battle, the party has come home. It is a milestone for me, personally, that the party has taken possession of this office.”
He thanked JD(S) national president H D Deve Gowda for abiding by the Supreme Court verdict and vacating the office for the Congress.

On which unit of the party would occupy the building, Parameshwara said the Congress had 16 units of its own.

“We will discuss the issue among our office-bearers and leaders, before deciding which unit will move into the new building,” he said.
