<p>A 28-year-old man, believed to be suffering from depression since childhood, jumped to his death in front of a running train at south Delhi’s Chhatarpur Metro station on Wednesday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>It took the authorities over 30 minutes to remove the mangled remains of the body from the railway tracks.<br /><br />Metro services between Huda City Centre and Chhatarpur were hit for over an hour, claimed eyewitnesses.<br /><br />However, trains continued to run unaffected on the busy route between Vishwavidyalaya and Qutub Minar, said a Metro spokesperson.<br /><br />Victim Ajay Kashyap was a resident of Sangam Vihar in south Delhi. He worked at a printing press in the area and lived alone as his wife had separated from him sometime ago, said police.<br /><br />He has left behind a two-year-old daughter. A suicide note was recovered from the victim in which he wrote he was committing suicide due to depression.<br /><br />“The suicide note contains that no one else must be blamed for his suicide,” a senior police officer told Deccan Herald.<br /><br />Police spoke to his family and learnt that Kashyap was suffering since a young age.<br />“He was undergoing treatment at Safdarjung Hospital and Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences,” the officer said.<br /><br />However, the treatment had little effect on him as he continued to suffer from depression and maintained a very low social life. No particular reason has been cited for his depression.<br /><br />He arrived at Chhatarpur Metro station around 2 pm and loitered around at the platform for a while before taking the plunge in front of a running Jahangirpuri-bound train headed from Huda City Centre.<br /><br />“We were evacuated from the train in order to bring the body out and clean the tracks,” a passenger told this newspaper. The man had already died by the time he was brought out.<br /></p>
