Three killed on spot as car topples

Three persons were killed on the spot and two injured when the car they were travelling in toppled after hitting a road median near Mayaganahalli near Ramanagar on Friday.

Police have identified the deceased as Chikkamarigowda, 62, his neighbour Kumaramma, 65 and Mahadev, 60, the driver of the vehicle.  Vidya, the daughter of Gowda, and Bhanumathi are the injured.  All the five are residents of Gandhinagar in Mandya.

They were travelling to the City by a hired car to shop for the wedding of Vidya’s daughter. The driver was overspeeding, lost control over the vehicle and rammed the median. The vehicle came to a stop after it toppled.

Passersby rushed the five passengers to a nearby hospital where Gowda, Kumaramma and Mahadev were declared dead. The injured were shifted to another hospital for treatment, police said.
Ramanagar police have registered a case.
