A 26-year-old project assistant at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) died instantly when an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus ran her over near the Windsor Manor junction on Thursday. Her friend escaped with minor injuries.
Saawari, a native of West Bengal, and her friend Anju had gone to Cunningham Road for shopping. On their way back, their bike was hit by the APSRTC bus.
Saawari fell to the ground and the rear wheel of the bus ran over her. She died on the spot while Anju escaped with injuries.
The driver abandoned the bus and fled the spot. Police have seized the bus and are tracing the driver. A case has been registered at the High Grounds Traffic police station.
