Advocates Academy to come up in State

Evening courts to be established for quick dispensation of cases

He made this announcement at the foundation laying ceremony of the new court complex at Ponnampet in Kodagu on Saturday.

The lawyers had initially opposed the establishment of evening courts, as they required time to meet their clients in the evening. And hence they argued that attending to the cases in the evening was not a feasible idea.

However, efforts are underway to pacify the lawyers. Moreover, it has been decided to hold small cases in the evening and hence the lawyers can send their juniors to handles the cases, the minister added.

Later speaking at the inauguration of Civil court (Junior Division) and JMFC court at Ponnampet he said that for the first time in the country Karnataka Advocates Academy will be established in the State akin to the Karnataka Judicial Academy.

In addition to this e-libraries will be started in all the lawyers’ associations, wherein information about the various judgements can be easily accessed. Also, the department has brought out a CD on the laws enacted after 1956 in the State. The CD priced at Rs 200 provides comprehensive information about law, stated the minister.

Legislative Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah, High Court judges were present.
