Mulayam accepts Amar's resignation

Accepting Amar’s resignation, Yadav, in a letter to the former, said he was accepting his resignation with “pain”.

In his letter, Yadav recalled the contribution made by Singh in taking the SP to new heights. “You have done everything to strengthen the party and I shall remain grateful to you for that,” Yadav said in the letter.

Yadav told reporters in Etawah that he would now make no attempt to persuade Amar. He, however, praised Singh for whatever he had done for the party.

Earlier, Yadav had expressed confidence that Singh would be persuaded to withdraw his resignation and termed the resignation as an “internal matter” of the party.

According to party sources here, the party leaders tried their best to persuade Amar to withdraw his resignation but he remained adamant. “There was no option but to accept the resignation,” party leaders said.
