As many as five persons, including the driver, were killed on the spot, and eight persons injured, after the tractor in which they were travelling, overturned near Handaraki village in Sedam taluk on Sunday.
Shivaraya Muttappa (52), Siddappa Hadapad (38), Bheemaraya Badiger (26), Devendrappa Belagere (50) and Devappa Devakal (40), all from Goundanahalli village, are the dead.
Eight injured
As many as eight persons were injured and have been admitted to the taluk hospital. The condition of two is said to be serious.
All of them had been to Nachawar village to attend a cremation, and were returning to Goudanahalli village after the cremation, when the accident occurred.
A case has been registered at the Sedam police station in this regard.
