<p>With an aim to make the lives of senior citizens comfortable in their twilight years, they will now be given ‘sammaan’. It is a power discom’s initiative to provide doorstep document collection facility who wish to get new connection or want change of attributes in their existing ones.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Sammaan is Tata Power Delhi Distribution’s (TPDDL) scheme to engage those who are 60 years and are staying alone. <br /><br />“The company will also provide online bill payment assistance and SMS services to its senior citizen consumers,” said TPDDL.<br /><br />The discom will also organise an interactive session once a month at its district offices, where senior citizens will be briefed about energy conservation tips and various consumer services initiatives.<br /><br />Through the ‘sammaan’ scheme, TPDDL hopes to reach out to 10,000 senior citizens of north and north-west Delhi.<br /><br />“Till Now, around 200 customers have enrolled themselves under this category,” it added.<br /><br />With an aim to keep them remain healthy, TPDDL will organise free health, yoga and meditation sessions also.<br /><br />“Senior citizens will be offered tips for staying healthy and will be briefed about the importance of exercise and kind of foods they should consume. Routine check-up including blood sugar and blood pressure will also be conducted from time to time,” it added.<br /><br />“Three health sessions have been conducted so far at various locations. All were delighted to share their life experiences and thus make the interaction lively and fruitful,” said a TPDDL official.<br /><br />Praveer Sinha, CEO and ED, TPDDL said, “The new initiative will help our customers to live a healthy and happy life in their sunshine years. Besides making their lives hassle-free, it will also provide them opportunity to engage with society.”<br /><br />TPDDL distributes electricity in north and north-west Delhi and serves a population of six million, according to its website.<br /></p>
