Sensex crashes on delayed laws

Last Updated 12 May 2015, 18:32 IST

Weakening of the rupee against the dollar and delay in passage of few reforms including the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and the land acquisition bill spooked investor sentiment leading to a deep cut in the markets on Tuesday.

While the BSE Sensex closed 629.82 points (2.29 per cent) lower at 26,877.48, the Nifty ended 198.30 points (2.38 per cent) lower at 8,126.95.

Declines outnumbered advances in a big way on a day when the markets tanked with 48 out of the 50 stocks on Nifty declining.
