The State BJP on Tuesday said that the Congress government has failed on all fronts and there had hardly been any progress since it came to power two years ago.

Addressing a press meet, Leader of the Opposition Jagadish Shettar said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah managing to continue in office despite the shortcoming of the government was an achievement by itself.

“Otherwise there is nothing much this government has done. It is yet to come out of its deep slumber. The grievances of the people are not attended to. Various departments have not even achieved 50 per cent of their budgetary target”, Shettar said.

A booklet highlighting the failures of the government was released by Shettar. The BJP leader accused the government of providing shelter to the sand and land mafia resulting in several honest officers seeking voluntary retirement from service. Former IPS officer M Kempaiah had become de-facto DG&IG of the State as files pertaining to the police department were being routed through him, Shettar claimed.

The government had cut down on the rice and wheat provided to BPL families under the Anna Bhagya scheme.  The government had bungled on its drive to clear encroachments on lakebeds and on division of BBMP, he said.

The government had come under criticism by its own legislators, but Siddaramaiah continued to pat his own back painting a rosy picture of the State, Shettar said.
