GP polls: Officials told to be in headquarters

In view of the gram panchayat elections to be held in first phase in the district on May 29, Deputy Commissioner C Shikha also the district electoral officer has instructed the officials of various departments to remain in the headquarters.

In a press release on Friday, the deputy commissioner has instructed the government employees, teachers and lecturers deputed on poll duty to  adhere by the  order and not to obtain any leave during the period.

Besides, the department heads have been directed to direct the personnel to report to poll duty.

A total of 1,914 booths have been set up for the elections to be conducted for 266 gram panchayats in the district, on May 29.

That apart, all the departments have been asked to keep the vehicles in fine condition.

The vehicles will be deployed on poll related duty and have to be allotted soon after receiving the missive in this regard from the headquarters, the release added.
