Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday continued his tirade against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of “neglecting” the farmers and “patronising” a few industrialists.

On a three-day visit to his Lok Sabha constituency of Amethi, Rahul, while replying to a query on his assessment of the NDA government’s one-year stint, said that the “farmers would give the government zero out of ten while a few select industrialists would give it ten out of ten”.

Upping the ante over the cancellation of the food park in Amethi by the Centre, Rahul said that the NDA regime was indulging in politics of revenge.

“Modi has been visiting foreign countries...did he visit the home of any farmer?...where are the achhe din?” Rahul asked while addressing a ‘kisan panchayat’ (meeting of the farmers) at Amethi.

“Ye sarkar kisano, mazdooron ki sarkar nahin hai...ye sarkar do-teen udyogpatiyon ki sarkar hai(farmers, labourers have no say in this government...it caters to the interests of only two-three industrialists),” the Congress leader said.

Rahul, who marched along with hundreds of people to Chandgarh, where the cancelled Food Park was to be set up, said that cancellation of the project would ‘hurt’ thousands of farmers from Rae Bareli, Amethi and at least ten other nearby districts.

“They (NDA govt) think that they are hurting me....I feel sad...they in fact are hurting the farmers,” he said. “The Food Park would have greatly benefitted the farmers...they would have been able to sell their produce directly to the factories and not to the middlemen and would have gained,” the Congress leader said.

“We will continue our fight for the Food Park...we will force the government to give it back to Amethi,” he added.

Rahul said that the condition of the farmers was pathetic in the entire country. “The farmers are facing problems everywhere in the country,” he said. “If you ask the farmers, labourers, tribals then they will give Modi government zero out of ten...but it will get ten out of ten from select industrialists,” he said in reply to a question.

The Congress vice-president is meeting the rain-affected farmers and also holding meetings with the local party workers besides inaugurating some developmental projects in the constituency.
