Robbery at jewellery shop

Two unknown persons, who posed as customers, entered a jewellery shop and fled with a display tray that contained ornaments worth Rs three lakh in Ramamurthynagar police limits on Sunday night.

The incident took place at Vijayalakshmi Jewellers, owned by Vijay Raj, opposite Petra Park Apartment on Ramamurthynagar Main Road. Raj and his assistant Bharat were at the shop. Raj went out at 8.15 pm and there was power disruption at 8.30 pm. The duo entered the shop, saying that they want to buy some ornaments. Minutes later, they threw chilli powder into Bharat’s eyes, took the display tray and fled, police said.

Bharat raised an alarm and some neighbours rushed inside, but the duo had fled.
