The story of Arunima Sinha, the first female amputee from India to have climbed Mount Everest, may soon be seen on the silver screen.

Noted film director, actor Farhan Akhtar, who had made “Bhag Milkha Bhag”, a film on the life of “Flying Sikh” Milkha Singh, has evinced interest in making a film on Arunima’s life.
Akhtar, who met Arunima here on Monday evening at latter’s residence, reportedly offered to make a film on her life.

“Akhtar made an offer after getting to know about my life......I have no interest in acting but I shall welcome such a film....nothing has yet been finalised,” Arunima said after meeting Akhtar.

Sources close to Arunima said that a decision about the movie might be taken on next week when she would be in Mumbai in connection with the release of the Marathi version of the book “Born Again on the Mountain”, a book on her life.

Arunima, who was setting up a sports academy at Unnao, about 50 kilometres from here, said that she would employ a portion of the income from the film on its construction. “It will help me in rehabilitating the physically challenged people,” she said.

Arunima created history when she became the first female amputee from India to have climbed world’s highest mountain peak. Her journey to the peak had begun of March 31, 2013 and lasted for 52 days. Before climbing Mt Everest Arunima had also climbed 6666 metre-high Lungser peak in Ladakh.

Arunima had lost one of her legs in a train mishap.

Arunima has a message for the youth: “If you have a dream, then you should  make all efforts to realise it.”

She wants to set up a sports academy to train  budding athletes and sportspersons.
