Naxalbari Day fetes farmers' triumph, says Rudraiah

Naxalbari Day signifies the triumph of farmers and Naxalbari movement was held to urge the government to implement land reforms act. The working class must again get united to fight for the implementation of the law, said CPIML state Secretary B Rudraiah.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Naxalbari Day organised by CPIML district unit in Dwakra Bhavan, Aldur, Chikkamagaluru on Monday.

Cultivator should be the owner of the land and the nation has to be free of foreign investment. Green revolution could alone make the country hunger free.


Power should be with the working class. Naxalbari Day is not about arms revolution, he said.
He alleged that the Central government is snatching away cultivable land from farmers and is following anti-farmer policies, only to facilitate capitalists.

CPIML party district Secretary H C Mahesh said that today there is no land for cultivators but it is only for capitalists. Landless farmers should fight against this policy, he added.

Party state committee member Sudha said that Naxalbari is a movement lead by thousands of students and youth, to form a poverty less nation. Shrikakulam, Beerbhum, Lakkimpur, many women, tribals and dalits have laid down their lives for the movement, she said.

District committee member C J Jagdish said that united efforts are needed to establish the rights of farmers.

Party N R Pura Taluk committee member Ganesh, district committee member K H Mahesh, D D Umesh, committee leaders Venkatesh, Vijay, Umesh and others were present. Tributes were paid to martyr’s of Naxalbari movement.

District administration and district police denied permission for a rally and a public meet, which was supposed to be held on old Taluk office premises, in the wake of Gram Panchayat election model code of conduct.
