Opposing the clearing of encroachments, Mudigere Belegarara Sangha will stage a protest on May 26.

The farmers have alleged that the taluk administration has drawn a list of encroached land to be cleared after gram panchayat elections, which come up to 6000 acres.

The clearing has already been started at some areas and 360 acres of land has been acquired by the government and fences have been erected around the land.

In coming days, even cultivations will be cleared to acquire the lands completely. Lands of small and very small encroachers is included in the 6,000 acres of land and they fear loss of their small portion of lands.

It has also been accused that names of some influential people have been removed from the list of encroachers.

Revision of list
The Revenue Department said in case of such irregularities, the government will revise the list and carry on with the clearing.

In the list prepared by the taluk administration, most of them are agricultural lands and the farmers possess cultivation chits. The classification of Revenue, Forest and agricultural lands are not done properly as the records have been prepared inside the Taluk Panchayat office. The survey of the lands have not been conducted at all.

Hence, even the farmers own the land, they have to lose their lands, as their names have been mentioned in the list of encroachers, the farmers have alleged.

Revenue Department senior officials said that the clearing of encroachments will be carried out as per the orders of the court. Notices have been served to the encroachers and the encroached land will be acquired by the government. The drive will continue, till the next court orders.
