Kundapur MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty has received an extortion demand of Rs 10 crore, allegedly from underworld don Ravi Poojary on Monday.
Confirming it to Deccan Herald, the MLA said he received a call from a person identifying himself as Ravi Poojary at 12.30 pm, demanding Rs 10 crore.
The caller spoke in Tulu. After the first call, he called the MLA thrice. Later, the MLA informed Udupi SP K Annamalai, who in turn asked the MLA to seek police protection.
The MLA is yet to decide on seeking police protection.
