<p>A carpenter’s daughter has shown true grit by overcoming hardships to clear the class 12 board exams with flying colours. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Preeti Sharma has scored 90.2 per cent marks.<br /><br />“I wanted to make my family proud who have been supporting me all along. I want to stand on my feet so that I can help my family,” said Preeti, a student of Amity International School, Noida under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category.<br />Shyamsundar Sharma feels he is the luckiest father. <br /><br />“We are delighted with her success. I am not that educated but I want her to pursue higher studies. She can study as much as she wants,” said Sharma.<br /><br />Preeti’s mother is a homemaker, but when the family’s financial condition worsened she also worked as a domestic help. <br /><br />“There were days when we didn’t have the money. Still we never let that affect Preeti’s studies. I will do everything to make my daughter study more,” said Sharma.<br /><br />Priority to studies<br />The teenager said that her family is economically weak but her parents gave priority to her studies over everything.<br /><br />“My father never said no, if I wanted a book. He would always ask me if I need any more study material,” Preeti said.<br /><br />Teachers also applauded her effort. “She braved the challenges to score such high marks. She has always been a hard working and sincere student. She used to do her assignments on time,” said Renu Singh, principal of Amity International School, Noida.<br />“Her outstanding performance has made Amity proud. She will go places in her life.”<br />Even Preeti gave credit to her teachers. <br /><br />“My teachers have always pushed me. They were always available for me,” Preeti added. Preeti is looking to get enrolled in a graduate course under Delhi University.<br />The coordinator for the economically weaker section students at the school also complemented Preeti.<br /><br />“We had an idea that she would do well in her class 12 examinations. She has outdone herself by scoring such high percentage with sheer determination and willpower,” the teacher said.<br /><br /> <br /></p>
