The common expression – which continually makes its rounds on the internet and in one’s diction – ‘Thank god its Friday’ has become synonymous with good food and a relaxed ambience. With restaurants located all over the globe, ‘TGI Fridays’ has become a popular hangout for youngsters, families, couples and more.
Known for their inventive menu – food and drinks – they have managed to keep the standards high and entice foodies from all over. The Bengaluru branch, located in Lido Mall, maintains this same quality and keeping that in mind, they have come up with a new menu.
The ‘Ahi tuna avocado’ is one such addition – a treat for the eyes and mouth, one can relish on the combination of guacamole and tuna along with the crunch of nachos. A small pickled jalapeños tops the appetizer, giving it a well-seasoned flavour. The dish is light on the palate and greases the stomach for the upcoming main course. If one is in search of something more rich, they can go for the ‘Toasted French onion bites’ – the fried onions are the highlight of the dish, which is stuffed with cheese and vegetable cuttings.
Along with the new additions, there is the traditional ‘TGI Fridays’ menu. Items like ‘Loaded potato skins’, a speciality of the casual dining restaurant, chicken fingers and buffalo wings for appetizers, and the Jack Daniel’s grills are some of the popular dishes.
The ‘Loaded potato skins’ may be a favourite but for those looking for a well-seasoned dish may be disappointed – the barely salted potatoes are bland despite a load of cheese. And an addition of bacon, which is an option, is hardly discernable.
The considerably large portions of starters is enough to leave a tummy filled, so make sure you hold out for the main course. A variety of ribs, steaks and burgers leave one wanting more. The giant burgers are a mouthful – for all the meat lovers, the ‘Ultimate Jack Daniel’s burger’ is a must try; such tender beef patties are hard to come by. The same goes for the ‘Jumbo sirloin steak’ and ‘Texas spiced ribs’ – they are perfectly done and sit well with the tastebuds.
If there is any space left in the stomach, the dessert section should be given a glance. For chocolate lovers, the ‘Chocolate malt cake’ might be a good option. But dark chocolate doesn’t sit well with everyone, so the ‘Brownie obsession’ is another option. A massive slice of rich brownie is topped with vanilla ice cream, and the combination is to die for. The ‘Crispy cheesecake’ is a new addition that literally oozes flavour. To digest the entire meal, drinks like the ‘Ultimate margarita’ or ‘Ultimate Friday’s long island ice tea’ should be ordered. This makes an almost perfect American meal.
