JOIN USThe evaluated answer scripts of medical examinations would be scanned and uploaded online to avoid tampering with the scripts, Dr K S Ravindranath, Vice-Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences said on Monday.
Speaking at the 19th Foundation Day celebration of the varsity here on Monday, Dr Ravindranath said that the students could access the evaluated answer scrips online. He said that varsity would soon enable online submission of presentations and transfer of funds.
“In an attempt to boost research in the field of medicine, the funds for research have also been increased. A sum of Rs 10 crore has been allotted this year for research against Rs 3.7 crore earmarked last year,” the VC said, adding that the colleges could avail of the funds by submitting applications.
Dr C N Manjunath, Director, Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research said that diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and cancer cases would go up by 2020 owing to sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy diet.
“At least 30 per cent of the population below the age of 40 is at the risk of heart attacks. Environmental pollution is a leading cause for this trend” he added.
