A youth returning from a west Delhi mall died after his motorcycle rammed into a road divider in Rajouri Garden on Monday.

His friend, who was riding pillion, survived the accident. Police said the rider was drunk.
The deceased has been identified as K S Nitin, 24, who lived in west Delhi’s Ramesh Nagar. Police said the accident took place when he was travelling with Nikhil Ajmani, 26.

“On Sunday, Nitin and Nikhil had gone to attend a party at West Gate Mall in Rajouri Garden,” said a police officer. As they left the hotel during the wee hours of Monday, they decided to spend the night at their friend Vineet’s house in Rajouri Garden. Police said Nitin was driving the bike and was speeding.

“He lost balance and rammed into an adjacent road divider near Rajdhani College,” the officer added. It was noticed by some of their friends travelling on separate motorcycles behind them.

Nitin and Nikhil’s friends took them to Guru Govind Singh Hospital from where they were referred to Safdarjung Hospital and ESI Hospital in Basai Darapur.

Nitin was declared brought dead at Safdarjung Hospital.

Nikhil was later shifted from ESI Hospital to Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.

Their friends told police that they were at the mall since 8 pm during which they also consumed alcohol.

A case has been filed. Nitin worked with an MNC.
