Rs 2 lakh seized from man outside Lokayukta office

The Lokayukta police seized Rs two lakh in cash from a private person at the parking lot of the Lokayukta office here on Saturday night.

According to sources, a Lokayukta official overheard a person speaking about a case under investigation at the Lokayukta office parking lot and claiming that he knew officials. The police approached him and recovered Rs two lakh in cash from him. He was identified as Farooq.

Just when the police reached the spot, four other men who were chatting with Farooq fled.
“Since he was a private person, the cash was handed over to the Vidhana Soudha police.
Farooq had parked his sports utility vehicle at the Lokayukta office parking area, where to three other private cars were parked. We have asked the jurisdictional police to investigate the matter,” a Lokayukta official said.

The Vidhana Soudha police at the MS Building said Farooq was allowed to go after preliminary probe. Farooq claimed he was waiting for an advocate. Further probe is on, an official said.
