AIMPLB to campaign against 'ghar wapsi'

The apex body for Muslims in the country, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), has expressed “serious concern” over “ghar wapsi” campaign by some saffron outfits and vowed to counter it aggressively.

The board also made it clear that it would only accept the court verdict on the Ayodhya issue. At a meeting here on Sunday, the AIMPLB decided to launch a campaign against “ghar wapsi” throughout the country. “Ours is a secular country....Everyone has freedom to follow and propagate his religion without any interference,” said a senior board member here.
“Ghar wapsi is the biggest threat to religious freedom...During the campaign we will be creating awareness among the Muslims,” the member added.

Categorically rejecting any effort to resolve the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid ownership issue through mutual dialogue, the AIMPLB made it clear that it would only “accept” the court verdict on the matter.

“The Centre has already said that it will not bring legislation in Parliament for construction of Ram Temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya...In such circumstances any remarks by some leaders on the issue carry little meaning,” said the member.
