Loitering in the corridor during work time or coming late to office will not be easy any more for staffers at the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) head office.

The Palike will soon instal closed circuit television cameras (CCTVs) in the corridors of its central office to bring efficiency and discipline among its staffers. A decision to this effect was taken by BBMP Commissioner G Kumar Naik at a meeting with the heads of departments at the Palike head office.

The commissioner was unhappy that a number of staffers keep loitering in the corridor during working hours. He also made it clear that staffers who have been given uniform should wear it and every officer and the employee must have the identity card. Naik also asked the heads of departments to come on time and set an example for their juniors. Late-comers will face strict disciplinary action, he added.

The BBMP boss also instructed the officers to ensure proper housekeeping to maintain cleanliness in and around the Palike head office and the corridor. He said they were free to crack down on those smoking in public places as consumption of tobacco inside the Palike office is prohibited. Naik also instructed the officers to dispose files in time for the convenience of people and also for their own sake. This way, they can get rid of the huge backlog, he said.
