Congress workers were today up in arms against the AAP government and demanded Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's resignation, a day after party leader Jitender Singh Tomar quit as Law Minister following his arrest in a case of possessing alleged fake degree.

Scores of protesters led by the party's Delhi Chief Ajay Maken and senior party leader PC Chacko marched towards the Delhi Secretariat demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Addressing the protesters, Maken attacked Kejriwal accusing the Delhi CM of being "immersed" in the addiction of power.

"The Law Minister possessing a fake degree appointed public prosecutors and standing counsel of the government. We believe that this entire process is illegal and Kejriwal alone is responsible for it.

"Besides, his own partymen were repeatedly saying that his (Tomar's) degree was fake but Kejriwal did not listen to them. If anybody is responsible for this, it is Kejriwal," he said demanding Kejriwal's resignation.

Accusing the AAP of making a volte-face on the issue of Lokpal, he said, "AAP came to power promising Lokpal which is no where to be seen. There are many like Tomar in AAP. Kejriwal is not doing so to save his corrupt MLAs," he said.

The party demanded the appointment of a Lokayukta within the "next 15 days."
Charging that 8 AAP MLAs were under scanner, Maken also said that all the 67 MLAs of the party need to be investigated.

"Eight AAP MLAs are facing court cases. One of the minister has now been caught as false and fake, why not all the 67 MLAs of the party be probed," he added.

Speaking to reporters, DPCC chief spokesperson Sharmistha Mukherjee wondered why Kejriwal went on "protecting" Tomar knowing the facts behind the case. "He should have  resigned long time back."

"Aam Admi Party was formed on the grounds of very high moral principles, anti-corruption and all. So why are they now trying to protect the accused?," she asked.
