Protesters said that the colony which has 60 to 70 SC/ST families residing has no drinking water facilities due to which residents are facing lots of problem. The protest was led by Committee president Balakrishna Rai.
He said that the colony has one borewell. and all the wells in the area have been dried.
“A well was dug near Aramane kere three years ago and pipelines were laid for the supply of water. However, the pumps have not been installed. Colony residents are struggling for water,” Rai informed
Rai said that they had written a letter to Zilla Panchayat in this regard but so far so action has been takent.
“ However, there was no reply from them. We had even sent a letter to DC on December 24. As our demands have not been fulfilled, we had to stage protest,” he added.
The memorandum were submitted to Chescom Executive Engineer and Somwarpet Taluk Panchayat EO.
A memorandum was submitted to district administration on the occasion.
