<p>A senior prison official in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj district, about 300 km from here, has been accused of raping a foreign national, who had been lodged in the district jail for the past few months.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The victim, who was a national of Uzbedkistan, has in an application to the local court, said that the deputy jailer of Maharajganj district jail, Dhruv Narain Gupta, had also demanded money for her release.<br /><br />The victim alleged that her family had paid a portion of the demanded money to the official. <br />“The money was deposited into the bank account of the official”, the victim said in her application submitted in the court of additional chief judicial magistrate.<br /><br />The jailor had demanded Rs 84 thousand from the victim to facilitate her release, sources said.<br /><br />The victim said that since she did not have the money, she contacted her family back home and asked them to arrange the same.</p>
