Two Indian soldiers were hospitalised with leg fractures while several others received minor injuries in the Salisbury Plains in southwest England, while returning from a joint Indo-UK counter-terrorism exercise.

British authorities said 21 Indian military personnel received injuries whereas an Indian Army spokesperson said the crash resulted in leg fractures of two soldiers and injuries to a few.

“A Captain and a Havaldar were seriously injured while the rest sustained minor injuries,” Army sources said here.

British authorities, however, claimed reports of four to five people with life-changing injuries and approximately 16 others walking wounded. Most of the injured have been discharged from the hospital.

The accident involving troop carrier vehicles of the British forces occurred while the soldiers from the first battalion of the Kumaon regiment were returning after a training session on Wednesday evening.
