Farmer commits suicide

A farmer has committed suicide by consuming poison at Athigere Village in Banakal Police Station limits on Saturday. The deceased is Madhava Gowda, 55, had borrowed loans from cooperative society and banks in Banakal and Kottigehara. 

Unable to repay the loan, bank had issued notice to reclaim land which he had pledged for availing the loan. 

Serial thefts

In serial theft in Chikkamagaluru, thieves gained entry into seven shops, reports DHNS from Chikkamagaluru. They entered the office of Coffee Growers Cooperative Society and decamped with Rs 23,000.

Rs 1,000 was stolen from engineers and contractors office. They returned empty handed from real eastate office, hotel, resort booking centre. The building where theft was reported houses district Congress office, tractor showroom.

However, entire building does not have CCTV camera. Finger print experts rushed to the spot. A case has been registered.
