The City will get more roads under the TenderSURE project. The development of 50 new roads is on the anvil under the project, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced here on Saturday.

Speaking to mediapersons after inaugurating St Mark’s Road and Vittal Mallya Road, developed under the project, he said 12 roads were selected to be developed under Phase I of the project. Among them, the work on two roads is complete and works have been started on seven other roads. The work on rest of the roads would be completed by January 2016, Siddaramaiah said.

There has been criticism from some people that the footpaths developed on these two roads are too wide. Road does not belong to only motorists. Several pedestrians too require the footpath. The wide footpaths have been done keeping the safety of pedestrians in mind, he added.

The chief minister said three elevated corridors would come up in the City for better management of vehicular traffic. The road construction would be taken up at a cost Rs 18,000 crore. BBMP has been told to develop a detailed project report for the purpose, he said.
