Dist complex to come up on 100 acres

Karnataka stands first with regard to development in the country, said District in-Charge Minister K Abhayachandra Jain.

Speaking after performing ground breaking ceremony for various development works on Sunday, he said that a fullfledged district complex would come up on 100 acres of land.

The State government has already released Rs 25 crore for the purpose. The chief minister is committed to the development of the district. With the completion of the work on the district complex, more than 20 government offices will function under one roof.

MLA C T Ravi said the proposal on the district complex was sanctioned in 2011.However, owing to various reasons, the fund was not released. The funds were released for the construction of hostels during the previous BJP rule.

The work has been completed now. Chief Minister should have laid foundation for the district complex. Had the chief minister visited the district, the pending works would have been accelerated.

“We could have even sought fund from the chief minister for medical college,” he added.

MLC Motamma said that all development works should be completed within the stipulated time.

MLC Gayathri Shanthe Gowda said that land had been sanctioned near Kadrimidri for starting a PG Centre of Kuvempu University.

Deputy Commissioner B S Shekarappa said that the three-storeyed district complex would be modelled after the Parliament. It will have a parking space, conference hall and a garden.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr R Raagapriya, SP K Santhosh Babu, CMC president Muthaiah and others were present. The Minister distributed a cheque for Rs two lakh to an acid attack victim on the occasion.
